Summary: Sometimes, Xander is awakened by the carefully controlled breaths of Giles as he stands on the door to Xander’s room, green-grey eyes glowing in the dark almost like a cat’s. His mind adds the scent of fear-sweat on his skin, and the sounds of his heart, still hammering quickly and painfully inside that chest, and knows that it isn’t that far from the truth.
