Fic: The life behind the silences (Giles/Xander) (2/2)

Title: The life behind the silences
Author: [info]davinci_1985
Fandom: BTVS
Rating: R?
Length: 11300+
Notes: Mylène challenged me: to write a fic about a character of BTVS, but not from his perspective. He must be endure a painful situation, but it must not be angst; there must be implied the development of a relationship, but without using 'lover', or 'partner' or any other word that really means 'boyfriend'. There must be 'black eyes' and 'turquoise' mentioned somewhere in the fic. With those basis, I've done what I could, although this was supposed to be 1500 words, at most, and it has ended being roughly ten times longer.
Note 2: Written for the 2008 Octoberfest at [info]gilesxander
Summary: “Today has been exhausting.” He continued, not having expected any response from Xander. Xander made an inquiring noise with the back of his throat, low and short, raspy. “Yes, I know I should rest more.” What passed for a snort was heard, but Giles waved him away, eyes staring at the black surface of the television, which Xander had been watching most intently from, apparently, quite a while before he came home.
